Micro Attachment Purchasing Guide
Buying attachments for excavators under 2 tons requires extreme attention to pin measurements. Because these machines are so small, there is very little standardization across brands like Kubota, Bobcat, or Caterpillar. Before ordering, you must measure your machine's pin diameter (often 25mm or 30mm for this weight class), the distance between the pins (center-to-center), and the dipper stick width.
Weight is your second biggest consideration. A 1-ton micro digger has a very limited lifting capacity. Do not attempt to mount a bucket designed for a 3-ton machine onto a 1.5-ton digger, even if the pins fit. The dead weight of the oversized bucket will cause the rear of your machine to lift off the ground as soon as you attempt to dig.
Finally, consider how you change tools. At this weight class, many operators still use manual pin-on attachments to save weight and money. However, installing a lightweight mechanical quick-hitch can save you hours of labor over a week if you frequently swap between trenching and grading buckets.
